Community Venue Acoustic Enhancement
THE CHALLENGE
Scalford Village Hall is a well-used community venue housed in an older building with high ceilings and hard surfaces — conditions that naturally cause excessive echo and reverberation. The hall hosts a wide range of social and community activities, making clear, intelligible speech a necessity. Sound Control Services was engaged to deliver a robust acoustic solution that would significantly reduce reverberation and improve the overall listening environment for all users.
OUR SOLUTION
To address the acoustic challenges, we designed and installed a bespoke system using our Class A Basotect RT acoustic panels. These high-performance panels are manufactured in our Leicestershire facility and wrapped in premium acoustic fabric, available in a range of colours to complement existing interiors.
Our in-house installation team completed the fitting, ensuring seamless project execution without the need for third-party contractors — allowing us to provide a fully managed, end-to-end service that the committee greatly valued.
RESULTS & IMPACT
The installation delivered a dramatic improvement in acoustic clarity.
- Reverberation Time Before: 4.2 seconds
- Reverberation Time After: 0.9 seconds
This reduction created a comfortable, speech-friendly environment and transformed the hall into a far more functional and enjoyable space for community activities. The local Hall Committee was delighted with both the technical outcome and the professional service delivered.
